What are Indie Festival and Steam Eastern European Games Sales Page powered by Dev.Play?
Steam Eastern European Sales Page powered by Dev.Play and Indie Festival represent the biggest promotional opportunities for Eastern European indie games exclusively.
One of Dev.Play’s key missions is to create opportunities for indie game developers from the Eastern Europe region. For 6 years now, most of the games which were first showcased at Dev.Play went on to win awards at well-known international indie competitions or secured publishing and investment deals.
Indie Festival means more than 10h of live streaming on YouTube for the best 20 indie games submitted to Dev.Play 2022.
Steam Eastern European Sales Page means a curated selection of max. of 40 best quality indie games which will be featured on the Dev.Play Eastern European Games Sales page on Steam. RGDA has secured a Daily Deal Feature on the first page of Steam for the 24th of October for the Sales Page.
If I’m an indie game developer outside of Europe can I still apply?
We encourage indies from all over the world to attend our event, but given the limited space available for the Indie Festival live showcase and the Steam Eastern European Games Sale, these opportunities are exclusive to developers from Eastern Europe. Eligible to apply for the Indie Festival and the Steam Sale page are: Romania, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Hungary, Republic of Moldova, Albania, Georgia, North Macedonia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Poland.
How many games will be selected for Dev.Play’s Eastern European Games Sale page on Steam?
The exhibition will be curated, and we will select a maximum of 40 best quality indie games.
How many games will be selected for Dev.Play’s Indie Festival?
The showcase will be curated, and we will select a maximum of 20 best quality indie games.
Which games are eligible for the Steam Eastern European Games Sales Page?
In order to be eligible to participate at the Steam Eastern European Sale Page powered by Dev.Play you have to fill in this FORM by latest 20th of September and tell us more about you, your game and your studio.
All unreleased or released games with at least Positive reviews and up on Steam developed in Romania, Serbia, Republic of Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovakia, Poland or Hungary are eligible to apply. The list will be curated and a maximum of 40 games will be showcased. You can submit a game that is on early access/in development and currently playable on Steam / itch.io, by sending the corresponding set of keys or links to access the game. Our jury will not buy the games submitted for evaluation.
What is the criteria to be selected to showcase my game at Indie Festival?
In order to be eligible to participate in the live-streaming event INDIE FESTIVAL which will take place on the 24-25th of October, please fill in this FORM by 20th of September latest and tell us more about you, your game and your studio. Only games released after October 2020 or unreleased games are eligible to participate.
In the end, 20 games will be streamed in the INDIE FESTIVAL and the participating studios will be announced latest by October 15th. An international jury which will be announced by October 1st will select the 20 participating games.
How much will it cost if I’m selected to showcase my game at the Indie Festival and/or Steam Eastern European Games Sales Page?
Once you are confirmed as a participant at the Indie Festival and/or Steam Eastern European Games Sales Page you will have to purchase a conference PASS (on-site full access, VIP or startup pass, online full access or startup pass) https://dev-play.ro/register/ in order to take advantage of the confirmation.
Can I submit a game for any platform for Indie Festival?
Yes, you can submit games for any platforms.
Will there also be awards associated with the Indie Festival?
Yes! Our Dev.Play Awards Gala will celebrate the best games (best game design, best art, best game etc) present at the event. You can read more on the event here https://dev-play.ro/awards/
What is the deadline for game submissions?
The deadline is the 20th of September 2022 at 8PM, Bucharest time.
Can I submit more than one game?
Yes, if they are eligible as per the game criteria listed above.
- How do I apply? All you need to do is fill in the form found at the bottom of this page https://dev-play.ro/call-for-indies/You will be requested to fill in the following data:
- Studio name or your own
- Contact details
- Name of the game you are currently working on or have just published in 2022
- Link to the build where we can find the game you are applying with
- Link (google drive or Dropbox) to a folder where you put some snapshots of your game, a gameplay trailer (Youtube link or mp4), and a short description of your game (including platforms it is or will be on and what engine you used to develop it)

That’s great, excited to see your game! A member of Dev.Play team will review your application and will soon be in contact with you to let you know if the application is complete. If you don’t hear from us in the first 5 days after you send in your application send us an email at info@dev-play.ro.
All complete applications will be sent to the jury members on the 20th of September and they will have three weeks to selected the best 40 and best 20 games which will participate in the Steam Eastern European Games Sale and Indie Festival events. We will let you know you are in latest by October 15th.
